The Masterclass will combine foundational knowledge with policy and institutional perspectives. It will examine AI from an African perspective, Kenya’s evolving AI governance landscape, applicable regulatory approaches and the implications of AI for data governance, privacy, human rights, cybersecurity, information integrity, procurement and institutional accountability. Data Protection Introductory Course for Organisations and Practitioners in Kenya The Introductory Data Protection Course by the Centre for Intellectual Property and Information Technology Law (CIPIT) at Strathmore University is an online course designed to introduce participants to data protection concepts and practical compliance requirements, with a particular focus on Kenya’s data protection laws and their application by organisations and practitioners. As of May 2026, CIPIT has successfully trained eight cohorts, with over eight thousand participants completing the course. The programme has supported career growth and professional development, equipping participants with skills relevant to data governance, compliance, and data protection roles across sectors.
